Porsche To Start A New Auto Empire
by Anthony Fontanelle
Europe will see the rise of a new automobile empire. The much-anticipated conglomeration will be composed of Porsche, Volkswagen, and Scania.
Porsche Automobil Holding SE was given the green light by its board Monday to acquire majority stake in Volkswagen AG which owns Audi, Skoda, Seat, Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti brands. VW, meanwhile, said it will take a controlling interest in Scania, a Swedish truckmaker. This also means Porsche is in a position to absorb Scania with MAN AG, a German truckmaker which Volkswagen holds 29.9 percent, reported the Associated Press.
VW Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn said Volkswagen will focus on synergies with Scania AB, mainly in purchasing raw materials such as steel as well as research and development and electronic components.
Analysts in the industry said the deals are aimed at accumulating more wealth. The deals also strengthen the control held by the grandson of Porsche founder - Ferdinand Piech. He is the chairman of Volkswagen and MAN supervisory boards.
The maker of Porsche parts has been gradually increasing its stake in Volkswagen for more than a year and won a significant victory in 2007 when the European Union's highest court promulgated a decision that the German government had to remove a cap on voting rights at VW.
"Volkswagen has announced that they're taking a majority share of Scania. Next they could upgrade their stake in MAN to a majority stake, merge the two companies into a Volkswagen Commercial AG and sell that to Porsche SE. Then they could hand back to Porsche ... or to their stock owners, a special dividend from the revenues of that sale," said Christoph Stuermer, an auto analyst with Global Insight.
In a statement, Porsche said the reviews by the regulatory authorities are expected to take several months. And when requisite clearances are finally acquired, Porsche can take majority stakes in Volkswagen. The statement added that Porsche does not intend to merge the two companies.
"Our aim is to create one of the strongest and most innovative automobile alliances in the world, which is able to measure up to the increased international competition," said Porsche Chief Executive Wendelin Wiedeking.
Were a tie-up happen, VW and Scania would effortlessly upstage giant rivals such as Volvo AB and Daimler AG, Europe’s largest truckmaker.
"It shows the trust that the people in Porsche AG have in Volkswagen," Winterkorn noted at the Geneva Motor Show. "It means a lot of interesting things in the future.”

Best Car Lease Deal: The Audi R8 V12 TDI : Motor show, Auto show. Pretty car pretty girl

Best Car Lease Deal: The Audi R8 V12 TDI
by Danie lLamb
Now that everybody has their little version of the best car lease deal for the year 2008, enter Audi with one of the sexiest cars on the planet! It’s not because that this car looks the part; it certainly plays it as well. And what makes it really sweet is the honey-spot just under the rear windscreen: a diesel engine.
The Audi R8 is not only the best-looking car in its category, but it is also one of the fastest, although it’s 6.0-liter V12 engine does mean that it is one of the quickest fuel-burners as well. However, this means that the car is one of the most powerful as well.
This soon-to-be best car lease deal was first introduced earlier in 2008 at the Detroit Motor show, a brilliant red two-seater sports vehicle packed with 500 horsepower. The original R8 was donned in silver but after much internal debate, according to Audi, red was the chosen color to highlight the diesel feature of the car. A chrome finish for air intake and aerodynamic aid tops off this car, inspired by the Audi Le Mans diesel endurance racers.
The TDI has a new engine cover, wider air intakes, a new rear wing and more aero-dynamic parts to match its speed. Another intake is mounted on the roof as well as blade-like spoilers inside the front intakes. One might liken the design to the 1991 Audi Avus concept car. Inside, the cabin is smaller and there is no space for storing luggage due to the larger engine. In fact, the engine is so large the rear view mirror is virtually useless. A reverse camera has been fitted to the adjustable wing in the rear to compensate for this.
The car can hit 0-62 miles per hour in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 200 miles per hour, much faster than the V8 gas version from Audi. There is also a new wheel-mounted start button that allows the priming of the ignition on an initial press. The second press starts the V12. The engine is not as loud as many might expect. This best car lease deal lets out a metallic buzz more than a soaring scream as the rev increases. Response, however, is not an issue.
The Audi R8 V12 TDI will go on sale perhaps in 2010 and there is the very real chance that it will be limited in stock. However, this is the world’s first diesel-powered super car and there will definitely be no shortage when it comes to getting behind the wheel and fulfilling one’s need for speed.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Luxury Sports Car Review : Auto show, Motor show, Pretty girl

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Luxury Sports Car Review
by CJ Carter
As with all Aston Martin super cars the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is hand built. The smallest incarnation of modern Aston Martins, the Vantage is made to compete in the same class as Porsche 911 Turbo. The V8 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 as a full production car.
Unlike the DBS, DB9, or even the Vanquish, the V8 Vantage is a true two-seater. The two door coupe has a body that is created from a bonded aluminum structure. Although much smaller then other incarnations of Aston Martin the 172 inch long Vantage has a hatchback style tailgate which gives it a relatively large trunk space.
The Aston Martin Vantage is powered by a 4.3 liter V8 which cranks out 380 hp at 7000 rpm. At 5000 rpm the Vantage pours out over 300 lbs of torque. The engine of the Vantage is front mid mounted. The transaxle is rear-mounted. Surprisingly Aston Martin worked out the weight distribution to a near perfect 49/51 (front/rear). The V8 Vantage rockets from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. The Vantage reaches a top speed of 175 mph. But one shouldn't worry. The Vantage is fitted with Brembo brakes in order to bring this monster to a screeching halt.
The V8 Vantage sells in the US at a retail price of $110,000. At least that's what the manufacturer recommends. You will find most Vantages prices between $125,000 and $140,000. The Vantage originally was equipped with only a manual transmission. Later incarnations of the car has a floppy paddle gearbox as an option. They come loaded with nearly every option as a standard.

Underwater car, bond style - 2008 Rinspeed sQuba

Underwater car, bond style - 2008 Rinspeed sQuba
by The Boss
Thirty years after the movie thriller ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ hit the silver screen “sQuba” is the first car that can actually ‘fly’ under water.
“Dive it again, James!” If the situation gets too hot for the secret agent he’ll go underground - or under water. So demonstrated impressively by Roger Moore in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me” in 1977 when he dove below the waves in a sleek vehicle that moments before seemed to be an ordinary car. The only problem: The scene never really took place; it was an animation.
With the “sQuba,” the world’s first real submersible car, the movie fake now becomes reality for visitors of the Geneva Motor Show (March 6th - 16th, 2008). Rinspeed boss Frank M. Rinderknecht is known for his extraordinary automotive creations. The acknowledged James Bond enthusiast and Swiss automobile visionary kept revisiting this scene in his mind over and over: “For three decades I have tried to imagine how it might be possible to build a car that can fly under water. Now we have made this dream come true.” And it is this submerged stabile flight at a depth of 10 meters that sets the “sQuba” apart from military vehicles. While the latter can go under water, they are limited to driving slowly over the submerged ground. Rinderknecht: “It is undoubtedly not an easy task to make a car watertight and pressure resistant enough to be maneuverable under water. The real challenge however was to create a submersible car that moves like a fish in water

Why Should I Consider A Hybrid Car?

Why Should I Consider A Hybrid Car?
by William Thomas
More and more people are turning to hybrid cars these days because of their promise of lesser fuel consumption and environmental friendliness. Hybrid cars, because they run on both fuel and battery-powered engines, eat up less fuel, thereby sparing the consumer the pain of falling prey to price pressures in the world oil market. In addition, it also emits significantly less smog pollutants in the air, compared to traditional fuel-operated cars. Indeed, there are a lot of advantages to owning hybrid cars. This is why even the US government is starting to show support by welcoming more models into the country and by encouraging American auto makers like General Motors and Ford to make more units.
Here are some of the advantages of hybrid cars:
1) Efficiency - Hybrid cars are electrically operated and are thus able to function well and consistently at any motor speed. This is in contrast to conventional gas-powered engines, which tend to produce less power in low revolutions per minute episodes. Hybrid cars do not need to use transmissions to make their engines run at full capacity even at reduced speeds.
2) Economy - One of the advantages of hybrid cars is that the feature called "regenerative braking". Since a hybrid car works using both electric power and fuel power, each can function by itself or conjunction, depending on which is stronger at the time of use. This means that both engines complement each other and do not simply bog one when one of them becomes weaker.
3) Convenience - Because hybrid cars are part battery powered, they do not create huge holes in the pocket, compared to users of traditional cars who feel the pain of the continuing oil price increases. Most hybrid cars, particularly the ones that are made in Japan, are also more compact and lightweight, making them easier to maneuver on the road. Other models, particularly those by American and European car makers also do not deviate from the stylish designs their regular counterparts adopt, so users don't have to feel they are being left out in the style department.
4) Sustainability - Sure, hybrid cars are fairly new, so their immediate impact on the environment cannot be foreseen in the short term. However, over the course of time, the next generations will definitely be thankful for having a clean, pollution free world, thanks in part to hybrid vehicles.
Some critics say that it is not the time to buy hybrid vehicles because they are expensive. However, when you consider the advantages, you really shouldn't think twice. While you must be discerning in choosing the right model for your needs, this doesn't mean you start hesitating. After all, when more people start buying hybrid cars, manufacturers will see the need to produce more and eventually bring its price to very affordable levels.

The True Story How Nikola Tesla Nearly Redirected The History Of The Automobile And Prevented SMOG

The True Story How Nikola Tesla Nearly Redirected The History Of The Automobile And Prevented SMOG
by GARKO
Brilliant inventor Nikola Tesla had a car called the Electric Pierce Arrow in 1930, the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) was removed and replaced an Electric Motor. The energy source was a black box of radio tubes, in the glove compartment. The box had an antenna protruding. Tesla would fool with some tuners and zero in on the right frequency and 240 volts would zap the car through the air system! . The car engine was quiet as a mouse. He had his vehicle hidden in a barn near Niagra Falls. Somehow he was sending the power into the engine from the local power plant. He said this power could be made accessible for everyone. J.P.Morgan, globalist banker and one of the original criminals behind the Federal Reserve's quiet takeover of America in 1913, did not like the idea. The bastard stopped funding and Tesla's Wardencliffe Tower died without a funeral. We were denied FREE power. So instead we have to purchase gasoline and inhale polluted air!
Here is the story : In 1930, Nikola Tesla requested that his nephew, Petar Savo, a native of Yugoslavia, come visit him in New York. Petar was 43 years younger than Tesla. Up to that date he had lived under tight conditions in Yugoslavia, which was also where Tesla was born. During the summer of 1931, Tesla took his nephew to Buffalo to show him and have him test a new automobile. Tesla had brought it into existence using his own finances. The car was a Pierce Arrow, comparative to today, a Mercedes. The engine had been taken outwithout touching the clutch, gearbox or transmission. The gasoline engine had been replaced with a circular, self contained electric motor with a cooling fan in front. There was also an energy converter which was located in front of the dash board. A large heavy antenna protruded from the converting device. Furthermore, two thick rods emanated from the converter housing. "Now we have power." The motor achieved a maximum of 1800rpm. Tesla noted it was rather hot when operating, and therefore a cooling fan was required. As if this was not enough there was sufficientpower in the converter tolight up an entire house while operating the automobile's engine. Testing went on for about a week, achieving a top speed of ninety mph effortlessly. Its test results were at least comparable to those of any vehicle using fossil fuel. At a stop sign, a pedestrian made notice that there were no exhaust gasses coming from the exhaust pipe. Petar answered "It's Ok, there is no motor either." The automobile kept on a farm, maybe twenty miles outside of Buffalo, in the area of Niagara Falls. Due partially to the economic crisis at the time, Pierce Arrow had to stop production. So that is the story of how we came to be in the sad state of affairs we are in or at least you know that it was possible to prevent it as far back as 1930. What is past is past and we now have options which we did not have even five years ago. WATER4GAS is offering information for a fee which people can use in their garage or wherever to build a small device which infuses hydrogen into the gas/air mixture that their car runs on. What this does is make smaller particles out of the ones that the system burns as fuel. Because of the smaller size it gets to use much more of the gas. With WATER4GAS you can reasonably expect to lower your fuel consumption by 12%. But many are obtaining 30-50% improvement or significantly more. Those goblets must have been pretty darn big in some systems before. But with W4G they are made consumable so you can lower your fuel consumption. It also helps reduce emissions significantly. This information has been purchased by over NINE THOUSAND individuals already and the percentage of happy customers is about 99%! So that's a start!
